On Thursday, June 15th, eRoadArlanda was visited by India’s transport minister, Nitin Gadkari, on a three day visit in Sweden.
“Of course, we were thrilled to welcome the Minister and his delegation. Sweden has a forefront position in technology development on electric highways, with several ongoing projects. We are glad to be selected when the head of the world’s second largest road network comes to Sweden and proud to be able to present a Swedish innovation! says Hans Säll, Chairman of eRoadArlanda consortium and Business Development Manager at NCC Infraservice.
The interest in the electrification of vehicle trafficis is huge in India. The problems with air quality are well-known and the road network is enormous. The Minister was accompanied by representatives from the Indian Embassy and the Swedish Ministry of Industry. The Minister seemed very satisfied when he could try out the full-electric truck together with Fabian Wrede from ABT Companies, leader of the project’s transport group.
That same afternoon, 50 people from Europe’s first conference on electric road systems (http://www.electricroads.org/) visited the test track.
“We see that the interest in electric highways is steadily growing. Therefore, we expect and are preparing for an increased number of visits after the opening of the electric road this fall,” concludes Hans Säll.
